We are out delivering eggs this evening and this is a conversation that transpires . . .
You see, I think the only reason Morgan goes to the door with Jarod to deliver the eggs, is simply to race him back to the truck. It would be interesting to see how many hand print dents I have in the side of my truck.
About 99% of the time Jarod wins.
When Jarod wins Morgan usually says "It was a tie!"
On the occasion Morgan wins Jarod says "It was a tie!" How could he let his little sister actually beat him.
Lately, on a few races, I have decided to inform them of who wins. Sometimes it's very obvious and they still call it a tie.
Well, tonight, on one particular race, I informed Morgan that Jarod did win. I explained, I knew because of the sound each one of them made.
Morgan than proceeds to say . . . "I wish I was the first baby."
Jarod, a little confused, says "You mean, you wish you were the first one born?"
Morgan: "Yes"
Jarod: "Why?"
Morgan: "So, I could run faster than you and win"

Morgan's Thoughtfullness
I am hesitant to repeat or mention, something Morgan said, based upon historical events that I would prefer not to repeat. For anyone who knows Zach, you will know exactly what I'm talking about.
Here it goes anyways. Zach had a Priesthood Leadership meeting this evening, so he was not home when Morgan said our Family Prayer. Morgan is very thoughtful when she says prayers. She constantly surprises us in what she says or thinks to include in her prayers. Tonight was no exception. She said "Please bless Dad that he does not have a car accident when he comes home. If he does have a car accident please bless that he does not get hurt too bad."
You gotta love it!!! She knows her Dad!

Alex, Alex, Alex . . .
I have been wanting to post a couple comments, that were humorous, yet serious. So, here it goes.
About 10 minutes ago, I'm putting my laundry away in my room, when I hear Alex eating something. We finished lunch about 45 minutes prior. I had everything cleaned up from lunch, so I was not certain what he was chowing on. I walk into the kitchen to see him sitting on the floor, eating the remains of a half eaten sandwich that I had placed in the trash. Normally, they go in the compost bucket. I must have had some insight today, Alex was going to be hungry later and would be able to finish the sandwich, if it was placed in the trash, where he could reach it. Rather than in the compost bucket on the counter.
Lately, I have been pondering the purpose of sweeping and mopping my floor, especially the 4ft radius around Alex's chair. At any given meal time, Alex drops, throws a good portion of his food onto the floor. I have discovered, those droppings provide him with a convenient snack anytime he is hungry or just feels the urge to put something in his mouth.
Oh, Alex, we love him!! He brings so many smiles and laughter to our family!
He likes to wrestle now. When we were saying family prayer last night, he decided it was time to wrestle with Jarod. He just kept attacking him. I believe all of us had our eyes open and smiling by the end of the prayer.

Beeeeeeeeeees !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A few weeks ago Lisa and her students had a surprise with a swarm of honey bees. Not just a few, but holy cow numbers. So when I got home it was you take care of this quickly. So started to move things in the barn and saw this to start with.
Then decided I needed better protection. ( Anyone that knows me for more than a day knows what I was dressed in - shorts and t-shirt)
Then moved the shelf and found this. Not to excited to take care of it. But I did it anyway. Only 2 stings on my hand, not to bad.
As you can see from the stud cavity on the left this has happened before with the previous family, maybe next year we give them a hive out by the road. Then we can have some honey and the garden can be pollinated.
Beans, Beans, the magical fruit...........
You know the rest. Thing is that with little kids, not very good thing happen. Alex discovered he likes backed beans, and I mean likes them. That is all he wanted to eat that night. Next time I think I go to work early the next morning to avoid the fall out.
Hey what do you think you are doing with my bowl there is still some beans in there.

Our Garden
Eventhough, it's not the end of the growing season, I decided to go ahead and take a couple pictures of our garden. Last year, I waited too long and it . . . well . . . it was hailed out around the beginning of August. Our garden is around 800 sq ft. Yes, it does take a lot of work! It does seem easier each year. When you harvest and eat something from your garden, it's all worth it!! I love seeing the excitement from my children, when they pick the produce. This year we have had a hard time with our tomatoes and peppers. On the flip side, we have produced more of everything else then we ever have. So far we have eaten, peas, onions, carrots, lettuce, spinach, Zucchini, a pepper, and some really large cucumbers. A few new things for us, that are not pictured. We put in a strawberry bed and an asparagus bed. No, not much harvest this year, but OOOH . . . Next year should be rather great!!
Here, Bunny, Bunny!
At the end of April, we purchased a couple Californian Rabbits. No, they didn't come from California, that's their breed. Currently we have 2, "Jasmine" & "Thumper". Yes, our goal is to start raising rabbits as a part of our farm.
An updated picture on our two cats. "Kitty, Kitty, Meow, Meow is our Siamese, he's Jarod's cat. "Spots" is our new kitten. He's well, kinda everyone's cat. He loves the attention!! We enjoy watching the two cats play, it's great!!

Morgan and her horse
Morgan informed me about 2 months ago, that "Dani" was her horse. Morgan's Reason: Dani is the only horse that will basically let Morgan pet her anytime of the day. Morgan likes to climb on the panels to Dani's pen and pet her. Our other horses, will let you pet them, but "Dani" loves the attention.
Yes, she is still in her PJ's and flip flops. Morgan is pretty relaxed and comfortable around the horses. I have to keep my eyes on her, she doesnot realize how little she is in comparison to them. She's our little cowgirl!!
We figured out Dani enjoys drinking the water from the sprayer, when Morgan is giving her a bath. How fun!!
Jarod's Horse Show
This is Jarod's first horse show for this summer, it was held in June. He also competed in the July show. Jarod has been participating off and on in the horse shows for a couple years now. However, the highlight for this year is . . . He is doing it by himself. Mom, Dad or grandpa have not been in the show ring with him. Usually, he is riding "Johnny", not this year, it is "Paint". The largest horse we own.
Independence Day Parade
Jarod wanted to ride our horse "Paint" in the Independence Day Parade in our home town. One of our friends rode our other horse "Johnny".
Rather, than trailering the horses to the parade, we rode them to the starting point. At least Jarod and our friend did. Mom had a nice little hike that day!!

Nap Time!
Morgan was the candy grabber. Since Jarod was riding, she had the responsibility of acquiring enough candy for both of them. She was very successful!
Dad was our all around helper, camera man!

A fun Monday with the kids!!
Jarod found a "spotlight questionaire" that we use for our 8 year olds in Primary. He was asking me when he was going to be spotlighted. I informed him it was in about 6 months, but if he wanted to fill out the questionaire now, he could. So, he did. Although, there was one section he didn't quite know what it was asking. It is "Something special about me". I proceeded in explaining the section.
Jarod says: I know what I can write.
Mom: What?
Jarod: I'm smart.
I'm telling you, between having a 7 year old who believes he's smart, a 4 yr old who thinks she knows how to run the place and a almost 1 year old who can eat 2 dinners a night, we are in for a ride!!
